As a loyal Canadian subject of Your Majesty, I would respectfully request you have your Canadian Governor-General, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean allow the Canadian electorate to be heard and that the 40th Parliament of Canada be dissolved and new federal elections called if the vote of non-confidence in Parliament next Monday passes . A mere 7 weeks ago the Canadian electorate brought your Prime Minister Stephen Harper back with a larger number of MP’s but still with a minority. Clearly, Canadians rejected the other parties and in particular the Liberal Party of Canada had its fewest proportion of elected MP’s to available seats elected since Confederation in 1867. A coalition of parties without the mandate of the Canadian population is both undemocratic and undermines the sacrifices of our elder brethren that gave unselfishly of themselves for the preservation of freedom and democracy.
As Queen of Canada, there is no better an opportunity to show a new generation of Canadians the dignity and grace you have always shown toward Canada by preserving our democratic freedoms. You are our Head of State and no better has there been a time for Canadians to learn the significance the Crown has played in Canada since the days of Cabot and Champlain. Your leadership, your wisdom and your experience as our most gracious Sovereign in Canada is the fabric and essence of the nation-building that has Canada has enjoyed under your reign and the reign of your predecessors.
Thank-you on behalf of all Canadians.
Your loyal servant
Lt. (N) Patrick J. Teevens, CD, P.Eng. (Retired, RCNR)
Martin Lambert

Let me start by saying I applaud what you have done for our country in the puclic eye. In this venture you have shown how democracy should work and help people. Thank you for your representation of us.
On a sad side note, it is very discouraging to me to see people in our government trying to commit acts which can only be described as Treason. Our Soldiers, past and present, have died for our right to a democratic society in which the vote of the people matters. To allow someone to overturn this vote is treason, is it not ? This should not be allowed.

Your Excellency;
As a citizen of a democracy my heart is breaking when I see that the opposition is blatantly staging a bloodless coup of our country. The populace of Canada stated in October who they wanted running the country and the Liberals, NDP and Bloc are slapping us all in the face of that decision. I would implore you to uphold the ideals and philosophies that have made Canada a unique haven in the global picture. The idea that this coalition will result in anything but further turmoil and division in a time we need them to collaborate not coup is evident to the vast majority of Canadians. You have stated yourself that the mentality of “every man for himself and his clan” is the mandate you want to put an end to. Canadians spoke in October and I ask you to have the courage to honor that voice or let us speak again so that the message is heard loud and clear.
Respectfully Yours,
Shawna Norrad
I am not a conservative supporter, but I do take offense to the coalition under negotiation between the other political parties. On October 14 Canada voted and unfortunately elected the Conservatives with a minority government. The results of that election proved that Canadians are divided on the issue of who we believe should be ruling our nation. However, as a country we do have similar concerns healthcare, education, environment, economy etc. We are a democratic society. If our elected leaders are unable to govern based on the mandate the Canadian people have given them then we should have an opportunity to choose again. The conservatives made a mistake with their fiscal update. It wasn’t much of a fiscal update, they failed to address any sort of action plan to help our nation through this crisis.
I am frightened by these current events. Minority parties coming together to oust the elected government... this is not something that happens in Canada. We hear of these types of things in other parts of the world, not here. Canada elected a minority government because we do not agree with the philosophies of any of the parties completely. Rather than allowing a minority to take over the leaders should be required to work together for comprise. What makes this country great is our democracy. Allowing leaders of parties not elected by the Canadian people to join together and defeat the elected party is not democracy.
I urge to force an election rather than let this happen.
Thank you.
You are coming back to Canada to solve a crisis in Canadian Parliament. From my research one of your main duties is to "maintain stability of government within the principles of responsible government".
Our Prime Minister was elected with 38% of the Canadian vote. When our present Prime Minister released his economic statement he had to be aware of a reaction from the three opposition parties. Whatever our Prime Minister expected, today we have three oppositon parties forming a coalition for the next 18 months. These three parties represent 62% of the Canadian vote.
I would like to see this coalition become a reality.
Whatever your decision is, please address the Canadian people with your solution and why.
They are making up excuses so that they can dive their fingers into the cookie jar and put this nation in severe trouble. Let Mr. Harper have his chance...the people of Canada are giving him that and he needs time to lead us through these troubled days. He has enough to do and should not be distracted by three cry boys that the people of this nation do not want to see in power!! Do the right thing!
I have no doubt that you have and will be inundated; with advice, both expert and otherwise, with partisan pleadings and with varied opinions about your obligations and what you should or should not do given the current political crisis. There may be little precedent upon which to formulate a decision however I believe if you are guided by a sense of history and those very Canadian vitures of; common sense, fair play, mutual respect and love of country - whatever decision you make will be the right one. Best regards to you and your family over the Holiday Season.

I am extremely upset as to what is happening in Ottawa. We had an election and Harper was selected as Prime Minister. What Dion and the rest of them are doing is an outrage. We have spoken and how dare they take our voices away from us. If Harper is taken out of office then it should be because he lost an election not because Dion and Layton are acting like spoiled children because they lost. I am extremely ashamed that as a French Canadain that Dion is representing the French speaking people is such childesh manner. Please, please, please put a stop to this nosense. Harper was elected please let him do the job that the people of Canada has asked for. Or call an election and if the people really want the Coaliton as government then, we as the people will elect them. This our right as a democratic country.

I am truly upset that the three opposition leaders have taken it upon themselves to disrespect the people in such a way.
I entrust that you will do the right thing and disallow this coalition government to take place.
We have just put the Conservatives into power again, not the Liberals, nor the NDP nor most certainly the Bloc Quebecois.
This is purely a political game that these 3 parties are playing, and none of them are demonstrating that they care not one whit about the Canadian people. Yes, they say they are doing this for our own good, but they do not fool any of us. If any of them had the citizens of this country truly on their minds and in their hearts, surely they would step back and wait for this global crisis to level out.
I will be absolutly appalled if Stephan Dion, whom even his own party wants to displace, just steps into power. He was not elected to do the job. Nor can I accept that a Liberal Party Leadership Election would
simply be allowed to replace Mr. Dion with whomever they alone choose,
as the next Prime Minister. That decision must be left up to all Canadians, although sadly too few actually vote.
You must, therefore, allow Mr. Harper to prorogue or call another election. A coalition government such as is presented today would be
nearly criminal and could do nothing but harm Canada. I beg of you, do not go down that road.
Sincerely, Leona Francis and William G. Francis
Our Economy needs to be the focus of all elected officials not play games. We are looking like a 2nd class country when in fact we have the 2nd strongest economy in the world. I trust you will have common sense & tell the kindergarten class to get back to running the country.
You probably don't even read these, and I'm sure this is completely irrelevant but just like to say this Canadian appreciates that you are in a hilariously awkward situation. I have no idea what the best way out of this is, and hope you have some more insight on the situation than I do. I assume you must be questioning your role as figurehead. It sort of blows my mind that so much power is in the hands of the GG in this situation, but at the same time, I understand you didn't ask for it.
Best of luck in your decision,
Andrea McPherson
This country is in a sad state when a group unelected to govern can take over the government. Not only are they causing chaos in a time of economic crisis but are also alienating many voters and much of the country. This coalition is not represented in all the regions of the country. The West once again is left feeling on the outside and as not important. These politicians forget that our tax dollars also go to Ottawa and therefor we should also be represented in parliament. I think we should at least go to another election so the people can have a say, perhaps after a short cooling off period. All the parties involved need to tell the people what their plans are so we the people can make an informed choice as to who will make up our government.
Thankyou for allowing a citizen of Canada to make a comment,
Sharon Johnston
Clearly we do not want another election and I believe you could put A end this nonsense by being proactive and making it clear
to those conspiring to overthrow the goverment, that any non confidence vote in the house will be followed by a general election, and canadians will dictate who governs the country.
The 3 opposition parties clearly have 3 seperate agendas, this is a recipe for disaster. If the opposition parties wish to overthrow the goverment by a vote of non confidence, that is their perogitive in this minority goverment, however they should have to face the will of the people at the polls.mr dion was clearly rejected by canadians enmasse in the last election,
yet now through negotiation and backroom dealings It was decided by the opposition parties that he would be prime minister.
and he to be follwed by his successor upon his resignation
at the next liberal leadership convention. As I see it that is 2 unelected prime ministers. AS a staunch federalist I fear the seperatist movement here in the west will use this clear attack on democracy to fan the flames of western seperatists . I urge you to please act quickly, as the certain instability of the coalition option is not what we need in these tough economic times.

I hope you do not allow the Liberals and NDP to form a coalition government. I am outraged to think that it hasn't even been two months since the election, and they think this is acceptable to do to Canadians. Why did we vote in the first place? Also to think that the Bloc party is supporting this when they don't even want to stay in Canada is a total outrage. Steven Harper explained to Canadians that he would come up with an economic policy, once the G20 decided what they were going to do. This is explanation enough for me. Also Stephane Dion isn't good enough to lead his own party and now all of a sudden it is okay for him to be the Prime Minister of this great country. I am very concerned about Canada's future if this coalition is allowed to become a reality. I believe this would be a huge mistake and will produce grave consequences for the country.
Yours truly,

I am very discouraged to see the Liberals, NDP and the Separatist Bloc Quebecois can take over Government without being formally elected to be Prime Minister. Stephane Dion was never elected by the Canadians and he was rejected by his own party. I hope your excellency you won't allow this. We need to have another election so we could have a majority government that is elected by the Canadians people. I accept a minority government and not a coalition government that was never voted in. Stephane Dion,Gilles Duceppe & Jack Layton has only one interest is to prevent of having less money for each party. This is the only reason they form a coalition government to prevent the conservative of passing this budget cut.It is not for the country financial like they say. Hope you will prevent this coalition government.
Nevertheless, we face social justice issues here at home. Rights of minorities, and our desparate situation of native peoples. While it is all too easy to forget we have problems here at home, we must always struggle to demand such justices at home and abroad.
If this is successful it will disgrace our country internationally.
Thank you for this oppurtunity to voice our opinion.
Thank you for cutting your trip to Eastern Europe short to deal with the political crisis in Canada.
Just seven weeks ago, the people of Canada, voted to increase Prime Minister Harper's mandate. Voters also sent Stephane Dion a strong message, and the Liberals went down to their least number of seats since Confederacy. Clearly, the people of Canada did not want Mr. Dion as their Prime Minister. The possibility of a "coalition government" sent tremors through the stockmarket. During these difficult economic times, our country needs stability. A "coalition government", that is dependent on three very opposing parties unifying is unlikely to last. This would cause huge uncertainty, and could send our country from recession to a depression.
I urge your excellency to carefully consider what mandate the voters gave just seven weeks ago. May you have wisdom beyond your years to deal with this crisis.
A very concerned Canadian,
Mark Klaassen
I would like to add my voice to the many others in pleading to not allow the Liberal, NDP and Block parties to go against the wishes of Canadian peoople. We just finished an election and these parties have no mandate for this. Just the suggestion has been bad for the Canadian economy and I fear things will get worse. These people are not concerned about Canada, only their positions in politics. Please stand up for Canada and call another election if necessary so they can get their mandate from the people.

I strongly oppose the coalition that the opposition parties have formed to in a power grab. My preference would be to allow the elected government of Stephen Harper's Conservative party to actually govern the country. To that end I would suggest that you put all four leaders of the parties in a room and do not let them out until they have come up with a workable parliament. If this is not possible, then I would suggest that parliament be dissolved and an election be called. These times are too serious to allow the personal egos of the party leaders to win out over what is best for the entire country. We need a stable, elected government in power, not a marriage of convenience of three disparate political parties.
Thank you,

Please support a new election vs a coalition of minority parties.
I am writing to urge you to accept the coalition government proposed by the opposition parties of Canada. This coalition represents the majority of Canadians who believe that we need government now more than any other time in recent history. If Parliament is prorogued until January, we stand the risk going from a recession to a depression. History tells us that Government inaction was clearly a contributor to the Great Depression of the 20's. Don't allow this to happen to our beloved country. We are counting on you to do the right thing. Let democracy proceed as it should.

I always say that I am proud to be a Canadian; our country has a system democratic. We just elected a minority government, the other parties should work with the government. What the Liberal, NDP and Bloc are doing right now is a sign of desperation; none of their leader would ever be Prime Minister. Not too long ago, the Liberal wanted Stephane Dion to fire him from his position and now, he wants to be our Prime Minister, that’s telling you how desperate is the party. The sad thing is that if it were happening in other country, they would call it a coup. The politicians have to choose to work in the interest of the nation and not in their own interest. If they really want to oust the government, they have to choose to go to another election and hear the voice of the people they work for.
Please do not allow this coalition to go through. Stephen Harper was elected as our Prime Minister, even with a minority.
If this union goes ahead our taxes will jump as he has to find the money somewhere to inject 300 billion dollars into the economy.
Why, if the auto industries are in such trouble do they not start cutting from the top and woking down. Do CEO's need the amount they receive. Also the unions are breaking the company with the enormous wages and benefits they have, do some cutting where necessary. This could apply to heads of government as well as other businesses.
Parliament is in disarray at this moment. I am horrified at the scenes
taking place over the non-confidence matter. Never before have I
witnessed such greed for power as evidenced in the actions of the
"coalition Parties". I plead for calm heads, for governing for the
Canadian people, for care and consideration for the generations to
come, for stable democracy, for hope here in "The West", not just
hope for the auto industry and union workers, etc., but for us all!
How can Canada afford this wasted time? How can the collected we
afford another costly election? If the recession deepens, then what?
We voted in October. Please, no coalition and no election. Thank you.
Respectfully yours
Louise Redden
There was a wave of hope spreading across the globe as a result of Barack Obama coming to power in January of next year. Please keep that spirit and prospect of hope alive. Yes we can too and yes we will!
I am writing to urge you to refuse to agree to Prime Minister Harper's request to prorogue Parliament tomorrow simply to delay the fall of his government. If Parliament is prorogued until January, we stand the risk going from a recession to a depression. History tells us that Government inaction was clearly a contributor to the Great Depression of the 20's. Please don't allow this to happen to our beloved country. We are counting on you to do the right thing. Let democracy proceed as it should. Should you refuse his request to prorogue and his government be defeated by a motion of non-confidence, I would also urge you to accept the coalition government proposed by the opposition parties of Canada. This coalition represents the majority of Canadians who believe that we need government now more than any other time in recent history.

Although the Conservative party has won enough seats to form minority governments in the last two elections, they have done so with a significant minority of the popular vote. The opposition parties are at this time trying to address serious issues of governance in the same process Mr. Harper formerly proposed when his party was in opposition. His governance style has been geared to overwhelming support for the American administration which has been overwhelmingly rejected by voters in the U. S. Since the conservative government had passed legislation creating a fixed term between elections which could only be alterred if there were a vote of non-confidence in the house, and since that condition did not exist, I am one of many Canadians who viewed the last election as a violation of of both the law and the principle on which Mr. Harper and his party based the legislation.
The formation of a coalition government by elected representatives is a democratic right, not treason. I urge you to support this process.
Thank you.
Rev. Frank Armistead
I realize that this must be a very difficult situation for you, but as a Canadian and "supposedly" living inside a democracy I have a right to my say. This foolishness being forced upon us by the Liberals,NDP and the separatist party must not be allowed to go forward. This is the LAST thing Canada needs right now. We need level heads to prevail and see us through these difficult times.
Please allow Prime Minister Harper to prorogue then call another election. This so-called coalition can then run on their now chosen platform and let the Canadian people have their say !
Thank-you for your time and your ear.
